Rough days

So lately life has been a quite stressful and while I have often used this blog to vent that is not my goal today. Today I want to talk about gaming as a form of self care. (Aka stress relief) Some days I just want to come home and melt some face. This oddly enough has been difficult lately since I've been raiding as a healer and my time is limited. I had to have a hard conversation with my hubby who is also our raid leader. With school starting back up I have to stop raiding at least for awhile. I'm sad but also a bit excited about this. It frees up my game time to experience all the things I haven't been able to. I will get to play different toons, pet battle (I still have no pets to 25). I still get to be social I'm in vent I may even change my priests gear around to be dps back up when I can be there for raid. But letting go released a lot of stress for me. I feel like my stress relief became a stressor, and now I can go back to enjoying my gaming life a bit more. The lesson I've learned is it's important to keep balance in all things even my hobbies. On that note; Happy Friday all!!
Peace and Love,
Jay

  1. I have never gotten into raids, mostly because of the time/social commitment. I do mostly PVE, though my husband and I occasionally do random battlegrounds together. I think that's one of the really great things about WoW -- how many ways there are to play the game and still enjoy it and be able to get your frustrations out. :)

    1. I didn't until Mists. My priest was always holy but I just did dungeons with her. My main was a mage, in mists I just haven't liked her at all unfortunately. They were short a heals and I said I would give it a try. We have struggled with progression, which also may contribute to it not being as fun as it was at first. We're one of those friends and family teams and we don't min max our team etc etc. It has been fun but also time consuming. School will suck up lots of my time, but I am looking forward to getting to do some other stuff other than prepping for raid. :)

  2. Whilst I'll happily do some LFR I've never raided 'properly' as I think I'd find it way to stressful! I agree with Colleen though - WoW is amazing as it has so many ways to play & level. It can suit prety much any play style.

    1. It is stressful, we have a great group of peeps which helps a lot. The level of needed commitment is tough though, and there are so many other things I want to do too. Looking forward to getting to "catch" up on some other stuff. :)

  3. I play a healer in a 25m semi-hardcore raid team. I don't think the raiding itself is stressful. But there's so much things you have to do between the raids (e.g. rep grinding, dailies) just to keep you in line with the others that playing can start to feel like a second job. I've enjoyed a lot of these few weeks before the next patch when we don't have official raids and I'm able to do whatever I want (or even spend days without logging).

    1. Yes lately I have really struggled with the other stuff you have to do, and since I have always been behind I'm always playing catch up. The last few weeks when we've had to cancel due to attendance issues I've secretly been pleased. Doesn't make me happy to say that though. Love who I play with, some have become "real life" friends. I just have felt so burned out.
